Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina firmly said that the Bangladesh of 2041 will be a smart Bangladesh where every person will have technical knowledge and the country will not be left behind in the global arena. He said, ‘Our education and learning such as e-education, e-health, e-business, e-economy, e-governance will be based on technological knowledge.’

The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating the free textbook distribution program by handing over the books of 2023 academic year to primary and secondary level students at an event at the Prime Minister’s office. He said that the entire country including all the villages will have technical knowledge and the government is taking measures for this. Sheikh Hasina said that the Bangladesh of 2041 will be a smart Bangladesh. It means every citizen will be tech savvy. Every boy and girl is learning computer technology from now on and will go further. Our entire population will be tech smart. Nothing will be left behind from the world. Of course we can.

He said, our education, education, e-business, e-economy, e-governance will all have technology knowledge. Bangabandhu Satellite-1 has been launched followed by Satellite-2. We will do that too. We will bring the technology of working broadband online to all the places starting from these time islands through submarine cable. At once the village level will be technologically literate. We are also making that arrangement. Bangladesh can no longer be looked down upon as its government has achieved developing country status in 2020 to celebrate the birth centenary of the father of the nation and the golden jubilee of independence in 2021. Bangladesh has made its place in the world. And the Bangladesh of 2041 will be a developed rich golden Bangladesh, which will be a smart Bangladesh. The Prime Minister said,

The head of the government said, this Corona, various troubles, Ukraine-Russia war – now the price of all things has increased. In spite of the worldwide suffering, we have not forgotten the children. The cost of printing their books – on the other hand we are saving, we have given special attention to the printing of books. Besides, I am giving importance to computer education i.e. technology education. The world is moving forward, why should our children be left behind?

Highlighting various initiatives of the government to continue the education of students during the corona period, he said, since the time of corona, my school is in my house, that is, now digital Bangladesh is studying at home. Measures have been taken so that no one can evade studies. Education programs have been conducted across Bangladesh through Sangsad TV. It has also been run through BTV. I think Parliament TV can always be used by Ministry of Education. The Prime Minister announced plans to launch a separate TV channel for education.

He mentioned that if the children of the country can be raised with sincerity, no power in the world can stop the development and progress of the country. He pointed out that despite the eyes of the critics who point out the various development works of the Awami League government, they do not see the development of the country.

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Even after doing so much work, some people are not satisfied. Even then they will say that we have done nothing. Did nothing (they say) the class does not even have eyes. They are blind even though they have sight. They will not see.’

He said, the word ‘no’ has entered into their heads. We don’t want to be in ‘no’. We can, the people of Bangladesh can. We want to prove that. I will not hear ‘no’ ‘no’. We can do it, it must be done.

Minister of Education Dr. Deputy Minister of Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury gave the welcome address in the program presided over by Dipu Moni. State Minister of Primary and Mass Education spoke as a special guest. Zakir Hossain.

The Prime Minister said, those who came to power after ’75 did not take any measures to free the people of this country from illiteracy. It is sad for the nation. In ’96, we formed the Awami League government. Then we have no initiative, we form the education commission again. Let’s start implementing a project to increase the signup rate. Adult education system was also attached there.

He said that education is the biggest tool if people are to be freed from poverty. So there is no step that we will educate the entire nation. We constitute a new Education Commission. But later we could not implement it. Because our 5 year deadline was over. After BNP-Jamaat came to power in 2001, they pushed the country towards darkness again. This is the reality. Sheikh Hasina said that in the 2008 elections, people voted for boat brands, we formed the government again. Since then we again aim, how can we make the people of this country free from illiteracy and since 2010 we have started distributing free books.

Referring to the various steps taken by the Awami League government to expand education, the Prime Minister said that since 2009, 23 public universities and 54 private universities have been established, agriculture, veterinary and animal sciences, science and technology, medicine, digital, Islamic-Arabic, textile, maritime, aviation. and aerospace, private fashion and technology university made by its govt. His government wants the sky research to be done. His government wants to build warships and airplanes in the country just like we can go to the moon. And they are providing this education so that our children can do it. He said, we have established technical training centers in each upazila, besides Hi-Tech City, We have set up Hi-Tech Park and Software Technology Park. Moreover, his government is also giving importance to madrasa education and has already given the status of master’s degree to Dawaray Hadith.

Mentioning that the government has taken steps to ensure that students can get vocational education, computer and technical education in addition to madrasa education, the head of government said, vocational courses have been introduced in 640 institutions of general education from the academic year 2020, currently 100 technical schools in 100 upazilas along with the modernization of 64 technical schools and colleges. And establishing colleges, 70 educational programs are going on. He said, 329 technical schools and colleges, four engineering colleges, 23 polytechnic institutes, four female polytechnic institutes are under construction, two survey institutes are under construction in 329 upazilas. The Prime Minister said that 2 thousand 138 private technical educational institutions and 20 thousand 640 teachers/employees have been enrolled in MPO. Our main objective is to create skilled human resources through technical and vocational education and training. Besides, construction of 1800 madrasa buildings and purchase of furniture is ongoing, 653 madrasa multimedia classrooms are being set up, madrasa teachers are being trained, 8 thousand 154 private madrasas and 1 lakh 63 thousand 62 teachers/employees have been enrolled in MPO. He said that as part of the social safety net program, stipends are being provided through GTP system through mobile banking to improve the quality of education in primary schools and prevent student dropout. The money is being sent to the mother’s mobile phone in the name of the mother. Sheikh Hasina said that various development projects including the 4th primary education development program, school feeding program in poverty-stricken areas have been taken.
